Learn about crypto security

What is a hardware wallet?

A hardware wallet is a physical device that stores your cryptocurrency private keys offline. Unlike software wallets that are connected to the internet, hardware wallets provide "cold storage" that keeps your crypto safe from hackers, malware, and online threats.

Ledger devices use a secure element chip - the same technology used in credit cards and passports - to protect your private keys. When you make a transaction, it's signed within the device and your keys never leave the secure environment.
